Love Sewing

After an incredible 9 years in business, we have decided to close our doors at our Toronto location of The Sewing Studio.

When I taught my very first sewing class in my one-bedroom apartment at Bloor and Jarvis back in 2004, I had no idea how much the business would grow, how many incredible people I would meet and teach, and how contagious a passion for sewing can really be. Toronto being the start of it all and so important to me, this has been a very difficult decision to make.

Our goal has always been (and still is) to share the love of sewing with as many people as possible, and we have decided to focus our growth on creating new products, building our digital presence at LoveSewing.com, and growing our New York location of The Sewing Studio. And we invite you to join us in this next chapter of our journey.

We want to continue being a part of your sewing education in a new, exciting way, including some things that I think you’ll love:

  • Our learn-to-sew DVD will be released this fall, so you can learn how to sew (in our most popular program) from the comfort of your own home.
  • We’ve got a book coming out in the spring (you heard it here first!!) that we haven’t formally announced yet.
  • We’ve got popular always-sold-out bootcamps and workshops year-round at our studio in NYC, so if you’re looking for a getaway, add that to your Big Apple must-do list. Or even just swing by to see our space!

In addition to everything above, we’re also working on events, sewing retreats, online classes, webinars, and more great LoveSewing products. We’re also teaming up with BurdaStyle.com to help grow the online sewing community around the globe! There’s so much around the corner, and we can’t wait to share that with you.

We invite you to join us for a anniversary extravaganza on Sunday, September 22nd from 12pm — 6pm as a celebration of our 9th anniversary in Toronto and 3rd anniversary in New York. Come sew and socialize with the TSS team. Or just pop your head in to say farewell. During the extravaganza in Toronto, we’ll also be hosting a liquidation sale of all our used Janome machines, sewing kits, furniture, and other accoutrements. Machines will be set up so you can “test-drive” them before you buy, and keeping with our focus of attention-to-quality, all machines being sold will be newly serviced and in perfect working order. A select number of used machines will also be sold in New York but quantities are very limited. This invitation is open to everyone (especially you!), so please come celebrate with us while taking advantage of our amazing discounts.

Our commitment to providing you with top-notch sewing education and the very best experience is still our number one priority through all areas of our business, and we hope that you continue your sewing journey with us as we continue to grow as well.

I can’t even begin to express my deep gratitude to you for your business and support over the years. Teaching, inspiring, and collaborating with all of you has been nothing but an absolute pleasure. My team and I are so honoured that you chose us to be with you on your sewing journey. As devoted and passionate students, and many now as friends, you will always be a part of our family and hold a special place in our hearts.

Once again, thank you for your continued support. Keep spreading the love of sewing!

Sincerely,

Denise Wild, Founder
